2012 Regional Flagship Events announced

The NSW Government has announced $412,000 of support for 33 flagship events across regional NSW in 2012. The Regional Flagship Events Program offers one-year grants of $10,000 or grants of $20,000 each year for three years.

Regional Tourism Product Development Funding Program

Applications are now open for the NSW Government’s new $5 million Regional Tourism Product Development Funding Program. The goal of the program is to create, grow and enhance tourism products available across regional NSW which will help to attract more visitors.

Strong growth in domestic tourism

NSW has seen its strongest percentage growth in visitors and visitor nights in eight years for the year ending June 2011, according to the latest data from Tourism Research Australia’s National Visitor Survey.

Tourism consumer websites re-designed

Destination NSW has re-designed its popular tourism websites sydney.com and visitnsw.com to improve the way Sydney and regional NSW are showcased to potential visitors. Enhanced designs increase the appeal of the State as a holiday destination.

Visitor Economy Taskforce Terms of Reference

The NSW Government has established the Visitor Economy Taskforce to develop a tourism and events strategy to double tourism expenditure to NSW by 2020. The Taskforce Terms of Reference are now available.

New tourism resources for industry

Tourism NSW has released two new resources for the tourism industry, both available free online. The Tourism Business Toolkit is designed by Tourism NSW to assist tourism operators at any stage of development. A new Tourism Module is now featured within the Small Business Toolkit, which is an interactive online learning tool designed by Industry & Investment NSW to assist business owners to start, run and grow their businesses.
